"It's Not Fair!"One thing that often Satan tells me is that God's prohibition of the homosexual lifestyle cannot be right, because it "simply is just not fair." Yes, there are times in my life that I think that my homosexuality truly is not fair to me. But that is of course a human perspective without the insight of God's total knowledge of His plan for my life and all the reasons that He allowed me to even exist in His universe. I have to admit that from my limited human perspective, there are many things in life that are not fair. Let's cover a few of the million or so I could come up with in case you're wondering:
If you, like me, are homosexual, you may, as I sometimes do in my moments of weakness, lament that "it's just not fair that I am homosexual and yet cannot live a homosexual lifestyle and still be holy before God." Yes, perhaps due to the fact that sin entered the world, that is true that to you and me it appears to be unfair. But have you ever stopped to think how short this life is when compared to the trillions of years that our souls will live--actually forever? Can you take a few years of self-denial in order to achieve a reward that will last literally forever? Are you and I so short-sighted that we cannot deny ourselves for a few measly earth-years in order to have a personal and real relationship with Jesus Christ that will last an eternity? Well, I cannot speak for you, but I certainly can do without in this life in order to live a life that is acceptable and pleasing to Jesus Christ. You see, every time Satan reminds me that "it's just not fair that I am homosexual" I then remind him that it was not fair what he told Eve before sin entered into the world, namely that eating of the forbidden fruit would not have disastrous consequences. If anyone knows about not being fair, Satan should top the list. So do what I do, invite Jesus to come into your life, ask Him to send the Holy Spirit to encourage and uplift your soul, and be thankful to God for sending His only Son to die on the cross of Calvary for our sins. I don't know about you, but I think that Jesus' sacrifice on the cross was way beyond fair to me--it was a huge act of love and sacrifice that He did out of His love for you and me, and His desire to see us reign in Heaven with Him forever. He really asks for very little in return. Sure there will always seem that it is patently unfair that there are others who are richer, happier, sexier, lovelier, smarter, better looking, better adjusted and holier than you or me. But really, none of that matters before God. What does matter is our relationship with Jesus Christ. And everyone can come before Jesus and have eternal life through Him. Now I have to admit, that seems MORE than fair to me! |
