Friends

(c) FreeFoto.comWhen one is trying to live a life that is pleasing to Jesus Christ, it turns out that the choice and "quality" of one's friends can have a huge impact on how you handle life, and also on how your relationship with Jesus Christ gets along.

That is because when you are Gay and Saved, you are special to God.  The bad news is that you are also special to Satan and his ilk.  What that means on a practical level is that he and his buddies will try and detour you from the path of righteousness every chance they get.  After all, the last thing they want is for you to live a life of victory in Christ Jesus, especially if you are homosexual.  So Satan and his buddies get together and work to try and ruin your relationship with Jesus and even with yourself.

That is where friends can come to the rescue.  If you have friends who are godly and know of your "thorn" of homosexuality, they can be a tremendous resource of comfort and security when Satan is trying to destroy you.  They can lift your spirits, pray for you, be people who you can call on when you need someone on this earth to talk to, and can be a source of good advice and wisdom if they too are in Christ.

So it is important to have a support mechanism around you when you decide to live your life for Christ in spite of your "thorn."  And God-fearing friends who themselves are on fire for Christ can do wonders for your ministry and for your ability to withstand the arrows of Satan's bows as he tries to destroy you and your ministry.

Seek to find friends who will keep you accountable.  Seek to find friends who will love you as a fellow follower of Jesus, and will be a source of prayer and encouragement.  Like Jesus, they can be like solid rocks in a stormy sea and like a firm foundation on a sandy shore.  They can be a blessing beyond words.  Pray for relationships like that, and when you are blessed with any, give great thanks to God for them!

On the other hand, avoid counting among your friends those who may try and talk you out of a life in Christ.  Satan and his buddies will try to reach you via those around you, and sometimes use them to discourage your life in Christ and maybe even destroy your ministry and example to others.  Don't let this happen!  Be on the lookout for "false friends" who may come into your life to sidetrack your ministry and keep you off target.  Avoid those people like the plague!
